WE’RE MAKING A MOVIE!

It’s taken me awhile to write this post because I’m still in shock.

We exceeded our $18,000 goal here on Kickstarter and even met stretch goal #1 –$18,005.94 – With $5.94 above goal, you get to see a fully funded film and some Icy Hot rollers for Joy’s back when she’s done directing, as she isn’t taking any salary from her treasured first film.” 

The check has cleared! For full budget transparency, $16,407.28 hit the account after fees. We will pour every red cent possible into making our excellent film after fulfilling your rewards. I am heavily invested in this project. I can’t tell you how excited I am to ship dolls, autographs, a photoshoot, sweatshirts and thank yous your way as gratitude for backing my first film. PLEASE answer your backer surveys now so we can easily fulfill your rewards.

What’s happened since we hit our goal: We added another dream actor to the cast (YESSSS!!) and have begun pitching crew, starting with a fabulous young, gifted and Black producer. We have commitment of wardrobe styling via a near and dear (also YGB) stylist, one home location, and BTS from a shooter. We have a few more cast pitches out. I’ve been namedropping the film locally in the Bay, while Donnita and I both stay at work in Hollywood. Finally, Madison Jade is preparing to talk about her first film role on iHeart Radio!

The amount of love you’ve shown me, Donnita and Heart of Sunshine will actually go down in the history books. To be making cinema in THIS moment feels like a privilege and a gift.
