And this one got me up out a tru rock bottom in high school! We would never know how sweet the good days are without a few bad ones. Peace without turmoil. Glory without grimness. A great internship without a nightmarish job. Amazing friends without snakes. Tasty food without mayonnaise. Sage the Gemini without Blueface. When things get really dark for me, I know I’m on the verge of something spectacular.

In the spirit of getting out of my comfort zone and trying some of the insane things our creators do on this platform, I FINALLY picked up some @fentybeauty and shot a #GRWM ! Working at Instagram usually makes me want to leave this to the professionals, but I love letting y’all into my every day. And because I’m a generally happy girl, I’m naturally happy with the results! I thought I’d do something a little different and give you a more personal row this weekend: at my presentation last week, I was asked about my personal mantras, or affirmations to keep myself going. Here’s one ✨

(((This little dork spoke at TVLC, a gathering of hundreds of leadership students in the Tri-Valley! Last time, I was at this conference as an attendee. I was a nerdy, energetic student with a dream of taking on the entertainment industry during college. Since then, I’ve had my photography published, I’ve covered red carpets, I’ve contributed to nationally-acclaimed film & TV research, had 11 professional roles and graduated from a top university as a full-tuition merit scholar and Salutatorian. I got hired at the #1 place to work and largest social network in the world. I had no idea about my destiny, I just knew it was huge. I spoke about my journey beyond high school and best tips for managing overcommitment, pursuing passions, checking in with yourself and identifying who you are OUTSIDE of your schedule. I was a nerdy, energetic student with a dream of taking on the entertainment industry during college. Students came up to me with hugs, questions about USC, Lucasfilm, Instagram, huaraches, saying No, being Black.. all because I got to spend an hour with 300 of them, clowning around.
