In the middle of launching a fundraiser for my very first short film—and during one of the hardest months of one of the hardest years—I received an unexpected email from Disney. They had seen my work and recognized me as a storyteller worth celebrating. They invited me to join the #DisneyPowerofJoy family and whisked me away to Animal Kingdom, Walt Disney World, and a Disney Cruise, all with a guest and all expenses covered.
To be honest, I never even dreamed this could happen.
Walking through Magic Kingdom before it opened to the public, in complete silence, I felt like royalty. It was surreal. That moment made me feel like a Disney princess for real—like the parks had opened just for me.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve connected with an inspiring group of actors, comedians, voice artists, executives, dancers, designers, and creators from all walks of life. January was filled with private struggles. March brought me back to life.
Swipe through the highlights (linked on social): there are laughs, tears, theatre, twerks, reviews, snacks, and everything in between. I’m counting it all joy.
To the private Disney team behind the magic: thank you. To Bahamian creator @theodoreelyett for your warmth, and to @niatheactress for saying yes to a wild adventure—you made it unforgettable.
If you ever see my name on a summit? Best believe I’m showing up.
And if you need the kid in you to smile again? Hop on this ship.
