After being on strike since July 2024, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve just been booked on a fair, union-approved video game. 🎉🥳
As a proud member of SAG-AFTRA, the most distinguished performers’ union in the world, I want to explain what’s really going on behind the scenes—and why this moment matters so much.
My fellow voice actors and I have been fighting for updated, fair contracts in an industry where the rapid growth of AI technology is threatening our rights, our likenesses, and our livelihoods. Here’s what we’re demanding:
- 💜 Consent and control: If companies want to replicate our voices with AI, we must have the right to approve or reject that use.
- 💜 Fair compensation: If our voices are going to be used by AI forever—even posthumously—we deserve to be paid for those performances.
- 💜 Protection from unauthorized sourcing: Companies should not be allowed to scrape our voices from YouTube, podcasts, or interviews to build AI replicas without permission.
The current industry contract, known as Side Letter 6, offers no real protection against AI misuse. That’s why I—and many others—have been turning down projects that offered huge sums but came with unethical terms.
So we created our own Interim Agreements. These new contracts protect our rights, pay us fairly, and keep our artistry safe. And now, hundreds of studios are signing on—including the one that just booked me.
This is a big win—not just for me, but for all of us fighting to make sure creative professionals have a future in this industry. We’ve got a SAG-AFTRA meeting tonight to stay organized and hopefully get even more good news.
Please celebrate, comment, and share this to raise awareness. The games you love depend on the people who make them—and we’re fighting to stay in the game.
