Hit play for a preview of the new Warner Bros. film, We Are Your Friends (starring Zac Efron, Emily Ratajkowski and Alex Shaffer).
We Are Your Friends is the story of four down-on-their-luck dudes who try to break out of the “prison” that is the San Fernando Valley through the rampant EDM scene. While the film falls victim to slight predictability and overzealous incorporation of millennial culture, it stands strong with a compelling, 21 Jump Street-esque narrative style and pretty cinematography.
Shirtless Zefron moments and adorable inserts from Shaffer’s character, Squirrel, make the movie even more of a treasure.
A post-screening Q&A with Alex Shaffer revealed more of the supporting actor’s motivation, aspirations and striking similarity to his laid-back character:
“The hardest part [of filming the movie] was not being bad at acting. That’s very hard sometimes. Another hard part is… the schedule. Sometimes you’re waking up at (this is gonna sound stupid), you’re waking up at like 7:00 in the morning. [acknowledging audience laughter] Bleaaauughh yeah, alright. Next question.”
Curious about his plans for the next 5 years of his career?
“No bad movies. Nooooo bad movies. [On Max Joseph films] I’d definitely do another one. Yeah.”
