Flying with the Evoluer Girls

I was honored to be invited by Liz Heit and Evoluer House founder Cheryl Wadlington to speak to their girls!

The Evoluer House, an innovative and dynamic nonprofit organization, delivers evidence-based empowerment programs that help girls to envision a future devoid of disadvantages and filled with possibilities…by investing in young women and girls and their collective well-being and power. Our curriculums are designed to promote emotional, mental, and social well-being, to equip girls with the tools they need to become college-bound and career-ready, and break the cycle of intergenerational poverty.

The Evoluer House was also recognized by Honorable Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States, for 11 years of service to young urban girls.

Our missions and audiences align so well that it was super easy to participate in a one-hour Q&A with this group. I tried to break down what I do and hope to do in the world in a way that teen-me would have understood and appreciated. Speaking to students is super laid back and lower-stakes in comparison to my regular workflow, so it’s always a welcome interruption to my week or weekends.

I love that by speaking, I can break down the barriers to success that Black girls experience.

Here’s to more good work with Evoluer, and their founder Cheryl, who was recently recognized by L’Oreal as a Woman of Worth!
